April’s Featured Artist is Rosalie Thurston.
Rosalie Thurston has always had a passion for art, from crafts and sewing to creative design.
Three years ago, she discovered painting, opening a new world of creative expression. Now a professional painter, Rosalie shares her talent through vibrant works inspired by Yosemite and historic Mariposa, capturing both the beauty of the landscape and her own imaginative journey. The Sierra Artists Gallery is located at 5031 Highway 140 in Mariposa.
Paint Out
Celebrate creativity and the natural beauty of historic Mariposa at the Mariposa Paint Out April 22-April 26 to observe over 30 working artists who have come from near and far to be inspired by the town of Mariposa.
A map of scenic locations where you may find artists at work will be available at the Sierra Artists Gallery (corner of Highway 140 & 6th Street). On Sunday at noon, all are invited to the county government center (5100 Bullion Street) to view an exhibit of the artwork submitted for cash awards. Judges, participating artists and visitors will select the winners.
Following the awards ceremony, there will be an off-the-easel wet paint sale of the artwork created over the weekend.

Town Hall
Hosted by Mariposa Farm Bureau with guest Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil, a Wildfire Risk Reduction and Insurance Affordability town hall will take place Friday, April 24 from 1-2 p.m. at the Mariposa County Government Center (5100 Bullion Street).

Annual Spring Plant Sale
UC Master Gardeners of Mariposa County are hosting the Annual Spring Plant Sale on Saturday, April 25 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds/Amigo Stage area.
Mosquito Fish available ($5.00) bring cooler. Veggies, CA Natives, herbs, annuals, perennials and more. Cash or check only. Bring boxes to transport plants.
FFA Boosters
The 30th Annual FFA Boosters Dinner Dance will take place on Saturday, April 25 at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds.
The theme this year is Bourbon Street Bash and doors open at 5 p.m. with a prime rib dinner served at 6:30. There will be a hosted bar. Must be 21 or older to attend. Tickets will go on sale March 28 at 8 a.m. for $100 each and can be purchased at Bootjack Feed, Mariposa Feed or online at www.mariposaffaboosters.com
Caregivers meeting set
The Mariposa Caregivers Support Group will meet on Thursday, April 30, from 1-2:30 p.m. at the public library. The group is open to all caregivers. For more information email mcsg95338@gmail.com.

Sierragrass Music Festival
The Sierragrass Music Festival is back April 30-May 2.
Join us for three nights of music, food and fun at Sierra Meadows in Ahwahnee.
The music will start at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 1 and continue into the late night on Saturday, May 2, plus a bonus night on April 30.
Attendees can bring an RV or tent camp on the former golf course property, just steps away from the outdoor stage.

Cheer fundraiser
The Mariposa County High School cheer squad is hosting a pancake breakfast fundraiser for new uniforms on May 2 at Steve’s Sportsmans Cafe from 8-11 a.m.
The pancake breakfast includes three pancakes, two scrambled eggs, two bacon, two sausage including coffee or tea for $18. From 4-8 p.m. will be Indian tacos including soup or salad for $20.
Free mobile dental services
Free mobile dental services for all ages will be provided May 5-6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Community Health Center (5300 Highway 49, Mariposa).
Services available will be exams, x-rays, cleanings, sealants, flouride varnish, restorative services and simple extractions.
People will be able to connect with a Medi-Cal Dental Outreach representative and get information about available dental benefits, services and how to access care.

Mad Hatter Tea Party
The Fourth Annual Mad Hatter Mother’s Day Tea Party will take place Saturday, May 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mariposa Museum and History Center (5119 Jessie Street).
Counts House VIP tickets with inside seating are $50 while the Counts House lawn tickets with outside seating are $35.
There will be full service tea in a variety of flavors along with smoked salmon and cream cheese, cucumber-herb cream cheese, chicken salad, ham and cheese sandwiches, pastries, tarts and more. There will also be live music from Dan Gross, Mary Williams and Melissa Rowney as well as a raffle with tickets that are $5, or five tickets for $20.
Wear your best Mad Hatter outfit and/or hat for a chance to win a prize.
All proceeds will benefit the museum.

Spring concert
At 2:30 p.m. on May 16, the Gold Country Singers will be presenting a Spring Concert in a new venue: The Mine Shaft, 3473 Merced Falls Road in Don Pedro.
The theme of this year’s concert is “The Rhythm of Life.”
As always, it is free of charge and there will be refreshments following the event. The bar will be open for beverage purchases.

Concert
The Mariposa Community Chorus and the Mariposa Children’s Choir together will have a concert on Saturday, May 16 at 2 p.m. at Mariposa County High School’s Fiester Auditorium.

Preparing for the Golden Years
Preparing for the Golden Years, Part Two will have expert speakers who will address the inevitable challenges of aging with straight talk for families and heirs.
Part two will focus on hospice, in-house care and care facilities as well as information on services offered by Area 12 Agency on Aging.
Part two will take place Wednesday, May 20, at the Mariposa Senior Center, 5246 Spriggs Lane, from 5:30 – 7 p.m.

Trade AA and Narcotics meetings
Trade Recovery Center hosts Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings and Narcotics Anonymous meetings for anyone seeking support in their recovery journey.
Whether you’re just starting your recovery or continuing your path, this is a safe, welcoming and confidential space to connect with others who understand.
AA meetings take place at Trade Recovery Center (5112 Bullion Street) on Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 5-6 p.m.
Narcotics Anonymous meetings take place in the same location on Tuesdays from noon-1 p.m. These meetings are open to anyone seeking support. Walk-ins are welcome and sign up is not required. Coffee and refreshments provided.

Bootjack Stompers
The Bootjack Stompers Hall provides Line Dancing instruction for advanced line dancers on Mondays at 5:30 p.m. and for beginning/intermediate line dancers on Tuesdays from 5:30-7 p.m. with line dance instructor Cheri Ridenhour.
We also provide Square Dancing workshops on Tuesdays for SSD/Mainstream and Plus.
SSD/Mainstream is at 7:15 – 8:15 p.m. and Plus is from 8:15 – 9:30 p.m. with Caller Rachel Phillips. Beginning Square Dancer workshops (no prior experience) start each September.

Mariposa Beekeepers meet every third Monday of the month, March through October. Meetings are held at the Mariposa County Library from 7-8 p.m.
Wheelchairs needed
The Mariposa Yosemite Rotary Club is seeking old wheelchairs, crutches and walkers.

How It Works provides support and meetings designed for those seeking help for alcohol addiction and anyone interested in learning about the 12 step recovery model.
Lactation Lounge
Mariposa County Lactation Lounge takes place the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon in the Mariposa County Library Community Room (4978 10th Street).
Come join the group for tea and baked goods and sit in on the community support circle for expecting and new parents.
Learn about the benefits of breastfeeding and receive support around common challenges while making lasting connections.

Books Galore is a used bookstore in Mariposa County located at the Mariposa County Library. Operated by the Mariposa County Friends of the Library, Books Galore offers a wide variety of books, DVDs, audio books and CDs at low prices.
The store is open two days a week: Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Book donations are accepted every Monday and Friday in the bookstore.
Proceeds help support the Mariposa County Library System.
Quilting group meetings
The Mariposa PieceMakers Quilt group meets the second Saturday of each month at the Mariposa Lutheran Church.

Republican Central Committee meetings
The Mariposa County Republican Central Committee meets monthly on the third Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The location of the meeting is the American Legion Hall (5117 Bullion Street). The public is invited to attend.
Monthly Dem meetings
The Mariposa Democratic Club will be conducting monthly meetings to address “The State of the Country.”
The meetings will be held on the second Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. to the boardroom of the Board of Supervisors. A special guest will be featured at each meeting.

There are various Alcoholics Anonymous and ALANON meetings in Mariposa. The Mariposa fellowship in Bootjack meets everyday at 7 p.m. There are noon meetings on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

Senior Center bingo & hall for rent
Play bingo at the Senior Center, 5256 Spriggs Lane, on the first Friday of every month.

Weekly Civil Air Patrol meetings
The Mariposa squadron of the Civil Air Patrol meets every Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mariposa-Yosemite Airport, 5020 Macready Way.

Fiber Arts group meetings

The American Legion Hall at Bullion and 12th streets in Mariposa will host bingo on the third Friday of the month.
