It was a case of the good, the bad and the ugly at Bass Lake over the July 4th weekend.
The good: Penny Pie Jones led the boat parade dressed as Lady Liberty and everyone had a fantastic time.
The bad: before fireworks lit up the sky there was trouble on the ground — one man was stabbed and airlifted while another was arrested.
Tens of thousands of people and their vehicles meanwhile lined the shores of the popular lake in anticipation of a spectacular fireworks celebration for the nation’s 250th birthday.
And — the ugly — apparently forgot to pack out their trash.
Volunteer trash pickups were planned for Monday following the holiday.

Coarsegold resident Lan Hacket found a secluded spot where he took this picture showing the length of the lake during fireworks.
