Mariposa County was well represented on June 13 in the Merced County All-Star Game. Connor Filgas and Laten Butler helped secure the victory for the South. Filgas played strong safety and had six solo tackles, including two for a loss. At the start of the third he chased down a North ball carrier for a touchdown saving tackle, which ended up forcing a field goal. This proved to be the difference in the game. Filgas covered over 60 yards on that play to make the tackle. Butler did a little bit of everything playing slot receiver, corner and free. He was also selected as one of the four captains for the game. He shut down his side of the field while playing corner and had a couple of his signature tackles on the outside. With four minutes remaining he came up with a huge interception to seal the game for the South. Filgas and Butler are both graduating seniors from MCHS this year.
