With spring upon us, now is the time to start getting prepared and educated for fire season.
Last weekend, local, state and federal agencies came together to share information at a Wildfire Preparedness Fair, held on the Mariposa County Courthouse Lawn.
There were many opportunities to learn about defensible space and speak with professionals about fuels mitigation strategies.
The event was hosted by Mariposa County, the Mariposa County Library, Mariposa County Fire and the University of California Cooperative Extension.
A wide range of partners were present at the event, including Happy Goat Farms, CAL FIRE, Mariposa Fire Safe Council, Upper Merced River Watershed Council, the Yosemite Prescribed Burn Association, Yosemite Fire and Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office.
In a press release about the event, people were invited to contact Mariposa County Wildfire Mitigation Coordinator John Patton at (209) 742-1303.
