Summer camp, swim registration opens May 5

With the summer season just around the corner, Mariposa County Parks and Recreation Summer Day Camp and swim lessons registration opens May 5 at 6 a.m.

Summer Day Camp

Kids Day Camp is for ages seven to 12 and runs from June 9 through Aug. 15 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at no cost.

Drop-off is from 7:30-9 a.m. and camp activities run from 9 a.m. to noon.

Lunch is served from noon to 1 p.m. then pool time is from 1-4:30 p.m. followed by pickup until 5:30 p.m.

If a camper misses five of their scheduled days of camp, they will be dropped from the program. There will be no exceptions.

Swim Lessons

Swim lessons run in two-week sessions at a cost of $30 per session.

Tadpoles: Basic water exploration course for children ages six months to three years with an adult.

Starfish: Learn to swim class for children ages four and five years.

Guppies: For children five years and older, learn to swim skills are practiced with instructor’s assistance and children learn water safety.

Otters: For children six years and older who are comfortable in the water. The class will work on simple crawl stroke with the goal of passing the swim test. The test includes swimming across the pool, both ways, without touching the bottom.

Minnows: For children who have passed the swim test. The class will work on all four swim strokes and teach swimmers to swim the crawl stroke more effectively.

Sharks: For children who can swim the distance of the pool in all four strokes. The class will work on making the four strokes more fluid and increasing endurance.

• Session one: June 16-25
Week one will run Monday, Tuesday,
Thursday and Friday due to the Juneteenth
holiday.
Week two will run Monday-Thursday.
Sharks: 8-8:45 a.m.
Minnows: 8:45-9:30 a.m.
Otters: 9:30-10 a.m.
Guppies: 10-10:30 a.m.
Starfish: 10:30-11 a.m.
Starfish: 11-11:30 a.m.
Tadpoles: 11:30 a.m. to noon
• Session two: June 30-July 10
Classes will be held Monday-Thursday
both weeks.
Sharks: 8-8:45 a.m.
Minnows: 8:45-9:30 a.m.
Otters: 9:30-10 a.m.
Guppies: 10-10:30 a.m.
Starfish: 10:30-11 a.m.
