Pictured are recent Kids First large grant recipients at Sierra Foothill Charter School. Teena Starchman received a grant to purchase several 3D printers for her classroom, giving students the chance to explore emerging technology as they design and print their own creations, support hands-on learning across subjects — including producing custom math manipulatives — and create meaningful 3D-printed items for residents of the Ewing Wing as a form of community service. Marci Messick will be using grant funds to add interactive whiteboards (smart boards) to strengthen upper-grade math and science instruction, making lessons more visual and engaging. Andrea Contreras received a grant for the All About Reading program for the homeschool program, allowing families to utilize leveled material bundles from pre-reading through Level 4 to teach reading at home.
