Sylvia “Smoke” Marie Winowiski, age 87, passed away on Sept. 27, 2025.

She was born on April 7, 1938, in Hollister, Calif., to Anthony Soto and Antionette Lopez. Sylvia was the sixth of seven siblings.

Sylvia had a joyful spirit and a spunky personality that made life with her unforget table. She loved to paint, play poker, dance, fish and spend time outdoors playing horseshoes. She was always the life of the party — feisty, fun and full of personality.

Sylvia dedicated many years to caring for others as a CNA at John C. Fremont Hospital, Mariposa Manor and with Dr. Dahlem before retiring.

She is survived by her six daughters: Bonnie Rhoan, Anna Davidson, Robn DeSandres, Leanna Wagner, Heidi Williams and Peggy Donati; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will forever cherish her love, humor and strength.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond “Ski” Winowiski.

She and Ski made their home on the Dougco III Ranch, where they lovingly lived and worked together for many years. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with Ski and that they are once again dancing together.

A celebration of life will be held in her honor on Nov. 22, 2025, at noon at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds, Redbud Room (Building C).
