School orientation, start dates announced

Even though school was dismissed for the summer just a few weeks ago, officials are already planning events for its return in August.

The Mariposa County Unified School District recently released a list of back to school dates across the county.

Dates for orientation at various schools include:

• Mariposa County High School orientation, Wednesday, Aug. 12, 5-7 p.m., at the school, 5074 Old Highway North in Mariposa.

• Mariposa Elementary multi-orientation, Thursday, Aug. 13, 2-3:30 p.m., at the school, 5044 Jones Street in Mariposa.

• Woodland Elementary, Friday, Aug. 14, 10-11:30 a.m., at the school, 3394 Woodland Drive.

• Lake Don Pedro, Friday, Aug. 14, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the school, 2411 Hidalgo Street, La Grange.

• MCHS schools start on Monday, Aug. 17, with varying times.

• Greeley Hill and Coulterville high schools, Wednesday, Aug. 19, 5:53 p.m. at 10326 Fiske Road, Coulterville.

• El Portal and Yosemite high schools, Wednesday, Aug. 19, 5:30-7 p.m., El Portal School, 9670 Rancheria Flat Road, El Portal.

• Yosemite Valley School, Thursday, Aug. 20, 5:30-7 p.m. at the school, 9009 Lost Arrow Road, Yosemite National Park.

• Sierra Foothill Charter School, TBD.
