Robert Anderson “Andy” Rains was born on June 24, 1958 and died on July 19, 2025.

Andy, 67, passed away surrounded by loved ones after a brief battle with cancer.

Born in Modesto and raised in the Bay Area, he eventually made his way to Mariposa, staking claim to the top of a mountain with views that would take your breath away.

Andy was always the life of the party, the guy with the biggest laugh in the room and the one most likely to tell you exactly what he thought, whether you wanted to hear it or not.

He loved good music, a cold beer and being around his people. He never passed up a game of darts or pool, and his competitive spirit meant he rarely walked away from a claw machine without a prize.

Andy worked in the family business, Rains Glass, later becoming Window World, until his retirement. He took pride in his work, but even more pride in his family.

He was born to Bobbie Ray Rains (1938–2010) from Oklahoma and Rinnie Lee (Chase) Rains (1941–2014) from California.

Andy is survived by his partner, Sandy, and her loving family; his daughters, Cheri, Sarah and Robyn; his grandkids, Charlotte, Myles, Samantha, Autumn and Sophia; his great-grandkids; his brother, David; his sister, Darry and brother-in-law, Joe; his uncles, Mike and Jack; and more nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends than you can count.

Andy lived loud, loved hard and left us with a lifetime of memories. He will be missed more than words can say, but if you knew Andy, you know he’d rather see laughter than tears. So raise a glass, share a story and remember him the way he lived.

Services will be held privately.
