Another fireside chat at the Mariposa Museum and History Center is set for Saturday, Aug. 29.
Local resident Don Fox will be speaking at 1 p.m. to discuss local heritage and milestones about the recent Semiquincentennial, or 250th anniversary of the United States.
Fox said the connection between America’s national celebration and Mariposa County is rooted in three defining chapters of American history.
Those are indigenous heritages and thousands of years of stewardship; the birthplace of the concept of national parks; and the “Mother of Counties,” which shaped law in the American West.
Admission is free and the event will be held in the Carriage House Meeting Room at the museum. (The program does not include museum admission.)
