After an unexpected absence in 2025, the Paseo de Mariposa Trail Race is making its return this year.
The 2026 Paseo de Mariposa Trail Race will be provided through San Joaquin Running Co. under the direction of Nate Moore.
“We love supporting local community events, especially those that celebrate trail running and the unique beauty of our region,” Moore said.
“Our goal is to carry forward the traditions that make this race special, while adding the same energy and care we bring to our other events.”
In its seventh year, the event will take place on Sunday, April 19, from 8-11 a.m. featuring 5K and 12K courses that begin at the Mariposa Courthouse (5088 Bullion Street).
This family-friendly event celebrates health, wellness, community and active lifestyles.
The 5K route is the shortest and most accessible option of the routes.
This route starts at the courthouse, with sections on paved roads, a short climb past the high school and a dirt road turnaround.
The 5K option is ideal for families, walkers and those new to trail running.
The 12K route is longer and more challenging .
This option features steep descents, a creek crossing and a challenging single-track climb to Slaughterhouse Road and the Flume Trail.
There are stunning views along rugged single track with significant elevation gain.
Organizers emphasize there are no strollers allowed on this path and children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
Aid stations will be positioned throughout both routes.
The cost of the 5K run is $38.10 (processing fee included).
The cost of the 12K route is $48.70 (processing fee included).
In support of the San Joaquin Running Co. mission to engage youth in outdoor activity, all children under 18 can participate in any race for free.
“I’m truly honored to help guide the Paseo de Mariposa into its next chapter,” Moore said.
“Together, we’ll keep this race a family friendly tradition that highlights the heart of Mariposa and the adventure of trail running.”
