sports are underway and school is back in session.
The Grizzlies varsity volleyball team traveled to Hilmar High School on Aug. 16 to scrimmage with the Yellowjackets.
“We did really well for the first real competition of the season,” said coach Holly Earling.
“We have a young team with only three seniors so it was good to get some experience against varsity teams for the younger players.”
It’s early in the season, but the team knows what they need to work on.
“It was a great test to show us areas where we need to improve,” Earling said.
“I’m happy about where we are as a team right now.”
Next up, JV will have the chance to scrimmage at Hilmar on Aug. 21 while the varsity squad will get some tournament action at Orestimba on Aug. 23.
The Grizzlies first home game is Aug. 25 against Central Valley in the Loyd Hobby gymnasium.
JV plays at 5 p.m. and the varsity game will follow.
