With the regular season winding down, the Mariposa County High School girls varsity basketball team remains undefeated in the Southern League.

The Grizzlies faced Gustine on Jan. 27 where they had a monster win over the Reds of 57-18.

The group then faced the Crusaders from Modesto Christian on Jan. 29 where they picked up their sixth straight win at home with final score of 53-16 to put MCHS with a 9-0 record.

Things went well,” said coach Joe Lewis.

We worked on some new defenses and how to be more efficient in our traps and rotations.

With playoffs in view, the team is taking it one game at a time.

Right now the focus is on being disciplined and consistent,” Lewis said.

Those two things will last longer than motivation.

The Grizzlies traveled to Stone Ridge Christian to go head-to-head with the Knights on Feb. 2.

The Knights were 6-1 (second place) in the Southern League behind the Grizzlies before the start of the game on Feb. 2.

Their only loss this far was handed to them by MCHS back on Jan. 2.

The Grizzlies were right back at on Feb. 3 as they traveled to Waterford to face the Wildcats (3-4).

Results for the Stone Ridge and Waterford games were not available at press time.

Next up, the Grizzlies will host Delhi (2-5) on Feb. 5 at MCHS.

It will be varsity only at 6 p.m.
