Grizzly volleyball continues to dominate league as they traveled to Modesto Christian on Oct. 8 where they shutout the Crusaders for the second time this season 3-0.

Set scores were 25-12, 25-9 and 25-11.

Mia Hansen and Abby Beery had a strong performance as Hansen had 10 aces and five digs, while Beery had six aces and three digs.

Izzy Whited had a big night with 10 kills while Kylie Williams put up five kills.

Gillian Pioske finished with seven kills and Emma Pioske had 26 assists on the night.

The Grizzlies continue to be lethal from the service line as they finished the match with 24 aces.

MCHS has now served at least five aces in 24 consecutive matches.

The group had a break from league play as they participated in the Stockton Classic tournament on Oct. 11 where they fell 2-0 to the Downey Knights.

The Grizzlies may have lost that game but they were competitive and remained in the game the whole way.

Set scores were 25-22 and 25-21.

The tournament was great,” said coach Holly Earling.

We got to play teams that were more competitive than what we have seen in our league.

Playing against teams outside the league is a challenge the Grizzlies are not taking for granted.

It was a good experience to have before we get ready to head into playoffs,” the coach said.

I’m happy with the way we played overall. It gave us a great idea on areas we can really focus on moving forward,” Earling explained.

After the win over Modesto Christian the Grizzlies sat with an undefeated 10-0 record in league.

The Grizzlies hosted the Waterford Wildcats at MCHS on Oct. 13 and the Knights from Stone Ridge Christian on Oct. 15.

Results for these games were not available at press time.

MCHS will travel to Denair on Oct. 20 to take on the Coyotes.

JV will play at 5 p.m. followed by varsity at 6 p.m.
