Tessa Johnson, a graduate of Mariposa County High School and recipient of the Mariposa Scholar Award (Tuffli Family Foundation/Kids First), earned her doctorate in Neuromotor Science from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa., in December 2025.

She is the daughter of Bryce and Christine Johnson of Mariposa.

During her doctoral studies, she worked with individuals — including military veterans — living with spinal cord injuries, conducting research aimed at improving rehabilitation outcomes.

Tessa is grateful to the many K–12 teachers in Mariposa who supported her early education and provided a solid foundation in math and science.

She welcomes inquiries from Mariposa students and community members interested in science, research or higher education.

Tessa can be contacted through her professional LinkedIn page (www.linkedin.com/in/tessacjohnson).
