Mariposa Soccer League launched its fall season with a whirlwind of energy, community spirit and a shared love for the game.
From the three-day Performance Camp to the annual Soccerfest celebration and opening weekend of games, it was a start that showcased the very best of Mariposa County.
Mariposa Soccer Performance Camp
Aug. 22-24 kicked off the season with the Mariposa Soccer Performance Camp, where players worked with professional coaches who were brought in from all over California.
Training focused on ball control, passing, agility and speed, with a dedicated goalkeeper coach providing specialized instruction for keepers.
Campers gave their best effort each day, showing determination and growth in every drill.
At the closing ceremony for camp, standout players were recognized as “Campers of the Weekend,” which included Emi Whitworth, Joltic Deveze, Lacey Chaney, Shelby Good, Micah Keyes and Madison King.
Soccerfest
The evening brought the community together at Mariposa’s annual Soccerfest, a highlight of the season and a true celebration of who people are in Mariposa County.
Families gathered at Woodland Park with blankets and chairs, enjoying food from Taco Sonora, Pizza Factory, The Lemon Drop and All About the Wurst.
Kids played pickup soccer, bounced through inflatable fun from Dabbles Bounce House and tried their skills at the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office’s soccer target booth.
With music, games, cotton candy and plenty of laughter, Soccerfest reflected the best of the county — people coming together for the children and their love of the game, according to the organizers of the league.
On Saturday, Sept. 6, the season officially kicked off with the first weekend of games.
From the youngest U4 players to high school athletes, Woodland Park was alive with excitement and cheering fans.
Mariposa Soccer’s fall season will continue with games every Saturday through Oct. 25, with Sunday matches featuring Mariposa Soccer’s club teams either hosting at home or traveling to nearby communities.
Mariposa Soccer extends thanks to the staff at Mariposa County Parks and Recreation, their sponsors, vendors, coaches, parents and most importantly, the players.
None of this would be possible without the dedication of volunteers and the incredible support of the community.
The season is off to a strong start — and the group can’t wait to see the continued growth, teamwork and joy the game brings to the players and community each week.
