Last year, Maddie Cole joined FFA in the USA as a reporter with a story to tell. She didn’t know how many doors that first story would open.
Now, the Mariposa FFA member has been selected to return for a second year. FFA in the USA brings together nearly 250 student reporters from across the country, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands to share stories about FFA members and their communities. (ffa.org)
When Cole traveled to Indiana last November, she got to meet the group of reporters she had joined. Suddenly, the program was more than names on a screen.
She was surrounded by other FFA members who loved finding stories and sharing them. The friendships and opportunities that followed helped her grow more confident in her writing and in herself .
This year, Cole is one of three returning reporters from California. New reporters have reached out to ask how the program works, and she has enjoyed helping them get started.
After everything her first year gave her, being able to encourage someone else feels especially meaningful.
Cole has big plans for the stories she hopes to tell this year. Stay tuned as she’s just getting started.
