Hornitos 4-H members recently participated in a Wreaths Across America ceremony at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Hornitos to honor the veterans buried there.

During the ceremony, 4-H members respectfully placed wreaths on the graves of each veteran, saying each name aloud and thanking them for their service.

This personal tribute ensured that every veteran was individually recognized and remembered.

Those in attendance were reminded of the sacrifices veterans have made to protect the freedoms enjoyed today.

The ceremony also reflected on the words of former President Ronald Reagan, who said that freedom is “never more than one generation away from extinction,” emphasizing the importance of remembrance and education for future generations.

Through their participation, Hornitos 4-H members demonstrated their commitment to citizenship, leadership and community service while honoring local veterans.
