Basketball season at Mariposa County High School is coming to an end as teams are battling for a playoff spot.
Girls basketball
The girls squad remained undefeated in the Southern League as they won their eleventh straight game on Feb. 5 against Delhi at MCHS.
Just two days before, the Grizzlies beat the Wildcats at Waterford on Feb. 3 with a final score of 52-43.
When the Hawks were the visiting team at MCHS on Feb. 5, the Grizzlies absolutely dominated the game, outscoring Delhi 60-4.
MCHS traveled to Denair on Feb. 10 to face the Coyotes. Results were not available at press time.
The Grizzlies played their final game of the regular season on Feb. 12 at MCHS where they honored their seniors. Results were not available at press time.
In just his second season as varsity head coach for the girls team, Joe Lewis has helped provide a solid foundation to the program which has shown success.

Last year, the team went 11-1 and this season’s final results won’t be much different as the team will surely be in the playoffs.
“It is an anticipated result of all the hard work and dedication these athletes put in day in and day out in season and during the off season,” Lewis said.
“They want to be great and understand consistent improvement will get them there.”
Playoff information was not available at press time.
Boys basketball
After taking a loss (93-37) to Stone Ridge Christian on Feb. 2, the Grizzlies boys varsity basketball team got back in the win column as they defeated Waterford 68-63 on Feb. 4.
MCHS was the visiting team against the Hawks at Delhi on Feb. 6 where the Hawks took the win 82-62.
Delhi (9-1) has been dominate this season as they also won against the Grizzlies back in January.
After the loss to the Hawks, MCHS held a record of 5-5 in the Southern League which left them in fourth place.
The last regular season home game for the Grizzlies was Feb. 11 as they hosted Denair at MCHS for senior night.
Results, as well as playoff information was not available at press time.
The regular season concludes for the Grizzlies on Feb. 13 as they play their final game against the Bulldogs at Le Grand.
It will be varsity only at 6 p.m.
