A successful weekend tournament has the Mariposa County High School volleyball team flying high in the early days of the season.
The Lady Grizzlies Varsity team went 3-2 at the Orestimba Tournament, placing fourth overall.
The Grizzlies played some very competitive matches. The results were as follows:
• Riverbank, W 2-0 (25-11, 25-10)
• Gregori, W 2-0 (25-7, 25-12)
• Buhach Colony, W 2-0 (25-15, 25-17)
• Oakdale, L 1-2 (25-9, 12-25, 13-15)
• Hilmar, L 0-2 (23-25, 23-25)
“We did really well. I was very happy with how we played, especially later in the day against competition more like what we should see in the postseason,” said MCHS coach Holly Earling. “I think those kinds of matches will really help our confidence moving forward.”
MCHS was set to play at Central Valley on Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. and at Hughson on Thursday, August 27 at 6 p.m. The Grizzlies will also play at Orestimba on Aug. 31 at 6 p.m.
