Fount Daniel Hanson Sr., a proud Navy Seabee veteran, master electrician and loved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Greeley Hill on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, at the age of 77.

Born on May 26, 1948, in Sacramento, Calif., Fount was adopted by Johnny Andrew Hanson and Pauline Fay (Clare) Hanson.

Fount graduated from North Salinas High School in 1966 and attended heavy equipment school in Idaho. Following his father’s path, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Seabees in 1967. He served four years with the Mobile Construction Battalion Seven, including two tours in Vietnam.

Upon his return, Fount built a successful and respected career as a commercial electrician, holding a 50-year membership in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Working in Virginia and California until his retirement in 1999, he was renowned for his exceptional ability to solve complex electrical challenges.

Fount was a unique character known for his heart of gold and his generous spirit. He was a true “giver,” always willing to help others with electrical and mechanical challenges. A lover of the water, Fount was an avid angler, a PADI-certified diver and known by others for his barbecue skills.

He was fiercely independent and could be as stubborn as a “donkey,” a trait he embraced. He was not known for his housekeeping and was okay with that. Fount often threatened sending registered letters as a means to make sure his voice was heard. Above all, Fount was deeply loved.

Fount is survived by his children, Heidi Hanson (Keith Ferguson) of Ashland, Mass., and Fount (Dan) Hanson

Jr. (Christina) of West Palm Bay, Fla. He is also survived by his brother, Ralph Hanson, and four grandchildren: Brylee Castillo-Suarez (Hanson), Annika Hanson, Keiran Ferguson and Garrett Ferguson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Andrew Hanson and Pauline Fay Hanson.

Per his wishes, Fount is being cremated and his ashes spread in a location he cherished. A celebration of life (or, a roast) will occur at a later date.
