Grizzly Flag Football put another win in the books with a 42-0 victory over Gustine on Oct. 7.
Mariposa County High School remained undefeated with a 5-0 record in league after the shutout over the Reds.
“We know that going into the second round of games there will be a big target on our backs,” said assistant coach Tammi Richards.
The momentum remained high as the Grizzlies defeated the Riptide from River Islands High School for the second time this season on Oct. 9.
The final score was 27-13 in favor of MCHS.
“It was clear that River Islands wanted to beat us pretty badly,” Richards said.
“They provided us with a very competitive game from start to finish.”
Defense is continuing to be a strong suit for the green and gold.
“We consistently shut down their attempts at getting any momentum flowing on their offense,” said Richards.
“Every once in awhile we have difficulty making the tackle (flag pull) but never stop the pursuit.”
Celina Heard and Juniper Helling continue to stand out for MCHS.
“Teams do their best to defend against any play to Juniper but Celina still seems to find her and in key situation,” continued Richards.
Bailey Costa continues to be a force for the Grizzlies.
“Bailey also played both sides of the ball very well,” Richards said.
“She had a key touchdown against River Islands.”
The Grizzlies hosted the Millennium Falcons at MCHS on Oct. 14.
Results for this game were not available at press time.
After the win over the Riptide the Grizzlies held a record of 6-0 in league as they have yet to take a loss in league play this season.
With just a handful of games remaining in the regular season, the Grizzlies will host the Dragons from Delta Charter at MCHS on Oct. 16.
Game time is 6 p.m.
