Get ready to cowboy (poetry) up.

The tradition of cowboy poetry will continue this year during the third annual Cowboy Day, set for Saturday, March 28 at the Mariposa Museum and History Center.

The festival will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum, located at 5110 Jessie Street in Mariposa.

Cowboy poetry will be featured beginning at 1 p.m. and headed up by local poet Wendy Brown-Barry, who will be emceeing the event.

Have you written a cowboy poem? Do you have one you would like to read at the gathering? Or do you just want to hear cowboy poetry.

All of the above are applicable for the event and Brown is looking for poetry to take into consideration for the festival.

If you have a poem or poems, email them to wendybrown@sti.net by March 22. All entries will be considered.

In the email, include your name and phone number along with the poem or poems as well as the titles and authors.

Those who are selected will be admitted free to Cowboy Day, just like members of the museum.

“Come help us celebrate our cowboys, past and present,” said Brown.

Cowboy Day will feature many other activities and vendors, from tours of the Gazette building to the running of the famed stamp mill.

Food and drinks will be available at the festival.

Visit mariposamuseum.com for more information, call the museum at (209) 966-2924 or email info@mariposamuseum.com.
