Consider voting Democratic

Editor,

Over the past year, I have talked to several Republicans who are disillusioned with both President Trump and with Congressman Tom McClintock. But, they say, I just can’t vote for a Democrat. Please reconsider.

We mourn price increases on gas, diesel, groceries, everything. Those hikes and the war are contrary to Trump’s promises. Tariffs started the increases, the war has skyrocketed them. The congress has failed to keep the president in check.

Tom McClintock, calling himself a tariff skeptic, voted for tariffs on Canada last February and to give Trump the power to impose more tariffs in September 2025. McClintock voted for the BBB, the bill that kicked hundreds of thousands of Californians off food assistance (SNAP) and keeps key cancer drugs Keytruda and Opdivo out of Medicare price negotiations.

Tom voted to benefit Big Pharma. McClintock also voted no on H.R. 2157 (Wildfire relief), H.R. 6644 (21st Century ROAD to Housing Act) and the 2022 reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act.

A future issue will be regulating artificial intelligence. Top executives of AI corporations have said they need the government to help them slow development. They fear they will lose control leading to “the destruction of mankind.”

Tom McClintock is 70 years old, has a degree in political science and has served in the California Assembly, Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives for 44 years.

Do you think he knows about AI or technology in general? The Democratic nominee for Congress is Michael Masuda.

Michael is 35 years of age, has a degree in electrical engineering and has worked for both the U.S. State Department and the DOD in technology evaluation.

Also, unlike Tom, Michael was raised in our district.

Dear Independents and Republicans, please consider voting for a Democrat this time.
