Emily Ramsey, Haley Baars, Aleah Brum and Cutler Klein represented the Mariposa FFA Natural Resources team at the California FFA State Finals last month.
Mariposa FFA congratulated Maddie Cole for being named the Central Region winner for the Premier Chapter Promotion Award (Star Reporter).
This award recognizes an FFA chapter for outstanding promotion through journalism, social media, broadcasting and storytelling, with the chapter reporter leading the effort.
The application process was very hefty, requiring meeting 18 different qualifications, and the Mariposa chapter successfully met 21.
Over the past year, Cole has connected with local broadcasting outlets, submitted stories to FFA in the USA, worked with her local newspaper and ABC News and consistently promoted Mariposa FFA through social media.
A special project required for the application was creating and managing her own agricultural account, in addition to running the chapter’s social media page and helping maintain the chapter website, all of the promotion behind the scenes is driven by her efforts.

Cole will be recognized at the State Degree Awards (where she is also expected to receive her State Degree later this year) and again at State Conference on the main stage.
What really shaped Cole’s mindset this year was earning the FFA in the USA Reporter position, that was the spark.
It created the confidence of “Okay, what’s next? I can do this.”
Now she’s hoping for some great news this March at State Conference.
