The Mariposa County Arts Council has announced the 2025 Art + Community grant program, funded by the county of Mariposa, which will support artists and grassroots organizations using art projects and cultural programming to achieve community goals in Mariposa County.
Individual artists or groups/organizations working in Mariposa County are invited to apply from April 14 through May 5.
Interested applicants should visit www.mariposaartscouncil.org/grant to see full grant guidelines and submit their application.
Request amounts are available between $500 and $2,000 for selected projects.
An informational webinar and open Q&A session will be hosted by arts council staff on Wednesday, April 16 at 6 p.m. via Zoom. To register, contact Ava Burns at burns@mariposaartscouncil.org.
The Art + Community Grant program is designed to support projects and programs that serve and uplift the community, particularly for those who may not typically have access to the arts.
Applicants must demonstrate a deep understanding of, and reflect a commitment to, the communities being supported.
All funded activities or projects must be accessible to individuals with disabilities.
Previously funded projects include a writer in residence program, cultural medicine walks, a community ukulele ensemble, an art lecture program and a student filmmaking contest.
“This grant program is a fantastic opportunity for local artists and art organizations to expand their reach in the community or kick start new programs,” said Burns, director of projects and programs.
“It has been really inspiring to observe the collaboration and creativity that the 2024 grant recipients have generated and we’re excited to see what fresh ideas our artistic community comes up with this year.”
The arts council is an incorporated not-for-profit organization, created to promote and support all forms of the cultural arts, for all ages, throughout Mariposa County.
The council is supported in part by the county of Mariposa; the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency and the California Arts Council, a state agency.
