Aramark is suing Mariposa County? What a joke!
Aramark has done such a bad job running Yosemite National Park concessions that they have cost our hardworking county taxpayers millions. Instead of being proud to provide clean, safe services to visitors from all over the world, they fail at every level.
While gateway community hotels, vacation rentals, restaurants, stores and tourist services knock themselves out to be their best, to strive for year after year return visits, Aramark prefers to loot every dollar from current visitors without any concern that they will never come back.
I’ve written about this before. I used to be proud to work at the Ahwahnee Hotel and Yosemite Lodge (1982 to 1996). The National Park Service required that we maintain a high level of standards. We were regularly inspected by NPS without warning.
Are those inspections still happening? Because the level of filth, shabbiness and poor service are astounding. And the prices are incredibly high. Way too high.
Why is this allowed? Yosemite National Park is a crown jewel of America. Aramark, with permission from the NPS, has turned it into an international joke.
Our county, along with Madera, Tuolumne and Mono counties, should be suing Aramark and the NPS for neglect. We take good care of visitors on their way to Yosemite, but they don’t return thanks to the utter rip-off they encounter inside the park.
Aramark makes billions while allowing our historic Yosemite buildings, which they are required to maintain, to crumble. Now they want to topple our county for a few bucks more.
Please Mariposa, strike back!
