It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Amber Rose Lundin-Hartgraves Staples at the age of 34 years old on June 8, 2026.
Amber was born on May 15, 1992, in Mountain View, Calif., to Meridith Lundin and Jeff Hartgraves. She grew up in Mariposa, where she graduated from Mariposa County High School in 2010 as a valedictorian.
Amber attended the University of Portland, where she graduated with a BSN in Nursing in 2014. Soon after, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma Brain Cancer. She had to have two brain surgeries, then went through radiation and chemo.
Max Staples, her boyfriend at the time, proposed to her on her last day of radiation as she rang the bell.
After her diagnosis and treatment, she became engrossed in the Relay for Life program. She became an advocate for fighting back against cancer.
On Aug. 22, 2015, Amber married her college sweetheart, Max Staples, in Tahoe, Calif. After marriage, she and her new husband settled down in Black Diamond, Wash.
She was in remission, and her scans were clear. Throughout the long fight, she never complained, always smiled and exuded a positive attitude.
The cancer came back in December 2025. This time, no treatment could beat it, and in late May, her body started to give up. On June 8, 2026, in the late evening, she took her last breath, surrounded by her husband and family.
Amber on this earth was a beaming stream of sunlight; now she gets to shine her light down from heaven.
Amber was welcomed in heaven by her Grandpa Dick Hale, Grandpa Roger Hartgraves and Ralph and Mark Canter.
Amber is survived and remembered by her loving and doting husband Max Staples and his family, Lori and Eric Bradly, Shirley Hale, Doris Hartgraves and daughters, Jeff Hartgraves, Mike Hartgraves, Steve Hartgraves and sons, Roberta Lundin, Meridith Lundin, Heather and Jim Bott and family, the Canter family, the Leard family, the Binder family, the Meyers family and the Hale Family.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
