AAUW (The American Association of University Women) believes that voting should be more than just an errand.
To celebrate its importance with some fanfare, AAUW Mariposa will be joining branches across California in a nonpartisan community-centered event called “Together. We Vote” on Oct. 24 from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Mariposa County Courthouse lawn directly across from the Mariposa County Elections Department.
Community members, friends and family are invited to join AAUW to ceremoniously drop their completed ballots into the ballot box in person, together, side by side, to demonstrate civic engagement and the strength of people acting together.
Look for the AAUW table on the courthouse lawn by the elections office parking lot. Chat with other voters, enjoy some coffee and treats, take a few photos and “celebrate the freedom to vote with your community,” said organizers.
AAUW Mariposa is a branch of AAUW, a 145-year-old nonpartisan national organization championing equity for women and girls since 1881. Local projects include sponsoring STEM camp for seventh grade girls, distributing backpacks filled with school supplies and hosting public informational events.
